1. Storage: expandable vs included
Reolink gives you more room to design a recording system. The WiFi model accepts a microSD card up to 256 GB and can work with a Reolink NVR. The card is an additional purchase, but the expandable approach is better suited to longer retention or continuous recording.
Eufy’s advantage is simplicity: the E340 includes 8 GB of eMMC storage on the doorbell. You can begin recording locally without buying a card or HomeBase. The tradeoff is that the built-in storage is fixed; adding HomeBase 3 changes the system cost and footprint.
2. Power: continuous wiring vs flexible installation
The Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi is not battery powered. It needs compatible existing doorbell wiring or its power adapter. That creates more installation friction, but it also avoids charging cycles and supports continuous recording.
The Eufy E340 uses a removable rechargeable battery and can also connect to existing wiring. Eufy notes that wired mode still requires the battery to remain installed; wiring keeps it topped up rather than turning it into a conventional battery-free wired doorbell.
3. Package coverage: Eufy’s clearest advantage
The E340 combines a main visitor camera with a second downward-facing camera intended to watch packages near the door. That is a meaningful hardware difference, not merely a software feature.
Reolink’s 5MP camera provides a 135° horizontal and 100° vertical field of view, but it remains a single-camera design. Mounting height and angle therefore matter more if doorstep packages are a priority.
4. Smart-home compatibility
Both models support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integrations. Eufy explicitly states that the E340 does not support Apple HomeKit. Buyers should still verify the exact function they expect—such as viewing a live feed or using a smart speaker as a chime—because “works with” does not mean every feature is available on every display or speaker.
What neither choice eliminates
- You still need a stable home network for remote viewing and mobile alerts.
- Local storage does not automatically protect footage if the recording device is stolen or damaged.
- Optional cloud services, hubs, storage cards, or replacement batteries can change the total ownership cost.
- Transformer, chime, Wi-Fi, and mounting compatibility should be checked before purchase.
